AI in higher education: next steps for the sector

Join the Office for Students (OfS) and Advance HE for a discussion building on the findings from our joint research.

Artificial intelligence is already changing how students learn, how staff teach and assess and how universities and colleges deliver their services. It presents exciting opportunities to enhance teaching and strengthen learning. It also presents urgent risks to learning, quality and assessment.

Join the Office for Students (OfS) and Advance HE for an online discussion of the findings from our joint research into the opportunities and risks that AI presents for higher education. We will shortly publish a report summarising these findings, which will inform the event discussion.

Our research explores how AI is being used across the sector and highlights key considerations for institutions as they respond to this rapidly evolving technology, drawing on new evidence from students, providers and sector experts and an extensive body of wider academic and policy literature.

Colleagues from the OfS and Advance HE will discuss the report's key findings and reflect on what they mean for students and providers.

We’ll also hear perspectives from expert contributors working at the forefront of AI and higher education. There will be opportunity to put your questions to the panel, as they discuss how the sector can harness the benefits of AI while protecting the quality of students' academic experiences.
